Ramadan Duas Every Muslims Should Read and Memorize

Every year, Ramadan arrives and departs like other months, but it is crucial to plan how to make the most of this special time. Ramadan is filled with blessings and rewards, so we should warmly welcome it. Fasting and offering Taraweeh prayers alone are not enough; instead, we should increase our prayers throughout the month, for both ourselves and others. Consequently, incorporating Ramadan duas to read and memorize is essential.

Ramadan is the best time to build a strong connection with Allah. One significant blessing of this month is the chance to offer Dua, which is especially accepted during Ramadan. This makes the period particularly auspicious for seeking Allah’s favor.

The significance of Dua is highlighted by the Hadith where Prophet Muhammad SAW said, “There are three persons whose requests are not rejected: the person who offers Dua when he or she breaks the fast, the leader who seeks justice, and the oppressed person. Allah opens the door for the Dua of these individuals to reach Him. Then, Allah says, ‘I will help you surely, even if it may be after some time.’” (Al-Tirmidhi)

Believers should offer Dua with full confidence, knowing that Allah will grant their requests. Dua helps us avoid disasters, the fire of hell, and daily troubles, providing relief in both this world and the hereafter.

Another Hadith states, “Dua is worship,” and Prophet Muhammad SAW emphasized that “The request (Dua) is the essence of worship.” It is also the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad SAW and his companions to begin preparing six months before Ramadan. Prophet Muhammad SAW said, “A servant is closest to his Lord when he is in the condition of prostration; thus, increase prostration and make more Dua in prostration.”

Reciting long Dua is not necessary; Prophet Muhammad SAW preferred short Dua, according to Hazrat Ayesha RA.

In conclusion, Dua is intrinsically linked to worship. Ahadith indicate that neglecting to pray invites Allah’s anger. We should seize every opportunity to make Dua, as Allah continuously offers chances to renew and strengthen our relationship with Him.

Arabic: “YA-HAYYU-YA-QAYYUMU BARAHMATIKA ASTAGEES.”
English: “O my Lord (Allah), forgive and have mercy (on us); You are the best Merciful.”
The first ten days of Ramadan are for blessings and mercy. We should pray for God’s mercy and forgiveness.

Arabic: “ASTAGFIRULLAH RAB-BI MIN KULLI ZAMBIYON WA-ATOOBUILAIYAH”
English: “I seek forgiveness for sins from Allah Almighty, who is my Lord, and I turn myself toward Him.”
The second ten days are days of forgiveness. We should pray for ourselves, our relatives, and departed Muslims.

: Arabic: “ALLAHUMMA AJIRNI MINAN NAAR”
English: “I seek forgiveness from my Lord (Allah) from every sin I have done.”
The last ten days, including Laylatul Qadr, are when many are released from hell. We should seek freedom from hell and forgiveness.

Arabic: “SUBHANNA DHIL-MULKI WAL-MALAKOT, SUBHANA DHIL-IZZAT WAL-AZMATI WAL-HAYBATAHI WAL-QUDRATI WAL-KBRIYAA I WAL-JABAROOT, SUBHANNAAL MALAKIL HAYYIL LADHI LAA YANAAMU WA LA YAMOOT, SUBBUHUN QUDDUSUN RABBUNAA WA-RABBUL-MALLA IKATI WAR-RUH, ALLAHUMMA AJIRNAA MINAN NAAR, YAA MUJIIRU, YA MUJIIRU, YA MUJIRU”
English: “Glory to the Owner of the earth and heavens, commanding honor, respect, awe, magnificence, omnipotence, and power. Glory to the Sovereign, the Ever-Living, who does not sleep or die. He is the most appreciated, the holiest, Lord of the spirit and angels. O Allah, save us from the fire, O Protector, Protector, Protector.”
Taraweeh is a special prayer offered after Isha in Ramadan, with the status of Sunnat Muakkadah.

Arabic: “ALLAHUMMA AHILLHU ‘ALAYNA BIL YUMNI WAL IMANI, WAS-SALAMATI WAL-ISLAM, WA RIDHWANI MINAR-RAHMANI, WA TAWFIQI LIMA TUHIBBU WA TARDA”
English: “O Allah, let this moon appear on us with blessings, faith, safety, and Islam. Let it bring us the pleasure of the Most Merciful and guide us to what You love and approve.”
By reciting this Dua, we acknowledge the arrival of Ramadan with gratitude and seek Allah’s blessings.

Arabic: “WA BISAWMI GHADINN NAWAIYTU MIN SHAHRI RAMADAN”
English: “I intend to fast tomorrow in the month of Ramadan.”
Prophet Muhammad SAW emphasized the importance of the Sahri meal before fasting begins.

Arabic: “ALLAHUMA INNI LAKA SUMTU WA BIKA AAMUNTU WA ALAYKA TAWAKALTU WA ALA RIZQ-IKA-AFTARTU”
English: “O Allah, I kept fast for You, and I believe in You, I put my trust in You, and I am going to break my fast with Your support.”
This Dua acknowledges the end of the fast with gratitude to Allah.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar and holds great significance. During this month, the doors of heaven are opened, and the doors of hell are closed. It is a month filled with rewards and blessings, fostering happiness and joy. We should not only pray for ourselves but also for those around us who may be living in ignorance. By incorporating Musnoon Dua into our daily routine and memorizing them, we align ourselves with the spiritual significance of Ramadan and embrace the opportunities for worship and reflection it offers.
