Life OF HAZRAT HUSSAIN (R.A)

“The world is aidless to present an example finer and brighter than the personality of Imam Husain (A.S.). He was the personification of love, bravery, and personification of sacrifice and devotion. Every Muslim, in particular, must learn a lesson from his life and should seek guidance from him.”

Those who were called in a deceitful manner

The Prophet Muhammad SAW. Yet Aba Abdullah was humbleness personified; he would never think of himself as superior to others.

  • The Battle of Karbala and Imam Hussain:

The evil plot set by yazeed resulted in the migration of Imam Hussain (R.A) not only created an uproar in Madina but also made the people of Makkah think about their allegiance to Yazeed. This hue and cry was raised to another level when Imam Hussain (R.A) while addressing the pilgrims of Makkah elevated his voice against the abhorrent and dirty government of Yazeed. This act of Imam Hussain (R.A) completely changed the minds of people and they realized that allegiance to Yazeed is wrong and amiss. Then imam said: “I thank Allah to the best of my ability and praise Him during the time of weal and woe. A Lord! I thank You because You have honored us by means of Prophethood taught us the Qur’an, made us comprehend the religion and its commandments, granted us eyes, ears and hearts; kept us free from the pollution of polytheism and then enabled us to thank You for Your blessings. It is a fact that I am not aware of any companions more faithful and honest than my companions and any relatives more righteous and kind than my relatives. May Allah grant all of you a good reward. I think that the day of our fighting with this army has arrived. I permit all of you to go away. You are free to depart without any restriction and should take advantage of the darkness of night”.

Imam Hussain (AS) struggled to maintain his courage. Someone threw a stone at his forehead, causing it to bleed profusely. As he wiped the blood with his clothes, another strike hit him. On 10 October, the Husaynids set a ditch on fire at dawn and took their positions, fighting off enemy assaults. Despite their steadfastness, Husayn’s forces weakened. The cavalry on Husayn’s side dismounted after losing their horses, continuing the fight on foot and forcing the Umayyad bands to retreat several times. After one retreat, the enemy set Husayn’s camp on fire, hoping to expose their flanks to attack and allow an encirclement.

By noon, Husayn’s companions had been surrounded and killed. Many non-combatants, including young lads barely at the cusp of manhood, rushed to their aid but were mercilessly slain. His nephew, Kasim, a boy of ten, died in his arms. Two of his sons and six of his brothers also perished. A soldier shot a poisoned arrow into Imam Hussain’s (AS) chest, and another strike caused him to lose his remaining strength and collapse. Shimr ordered his soldiers to deliver the final blow, but none dared. Shimr then beheaded Imam Hussain (AS) himself. Even though he knew this battle would end his life, Imam Hussain (R.A) remained unafraid of martyrdom. For him, calamity and martyrdom were blessings. He sacrificed his life for the path of Islam, and Almighty Allah will reward him endlessly and eternally for it.

“Assumptions are servitude to the whimsical senses
