The First Kalima: Pillar of Islam
First Kalima “Laa ilaaha illal Lahoo Mohammadur Rasool Ullah“
ًلا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُوْلُ اللّٰهِ
“There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.”
Suppose anyone genuinely desires to be a Muslim and has full conviction and a strong belief that Islam is the true religion. In that case, all one needs to do is to recite the First Kalima, the testimony of faith, without further delay. The Kalima is the first and most important of the five pillars of Islam
With the pronunciation of this testimony, with sincere belief and conviction, one enters the fold of Islam.
Meaning OF FIRST KALIMA: The word of Purity (Tayyabah).
Translation of first Kalima
Kalima tayyaba is the first and most important Kalima. Muslims recite it in various ways, but the most common way is to recite it after every prayer. It is also recited at other times, such as before going to sleep and at funerals.
The word “Kalima” means “word”, and “Tayyaba” means “purified”. The Kalima Tayyaba consists of six words, which are:” ALLAH is the only God, and Muhammad PBUH is His messenger.”
The Kalima Tayyab reminds Muslims of their commitment to God and His messenger, Muhammad. It is a reminder that Allah is the only God worthy of worship and that Muhammad is His messenger.

There are many benefits to reciting the Kalima both in this world and the hereafter. According to Hadiths, these benefits include the following:

Kalima is recited daily by Muslims in their prayers and is also recited at the beginning and end of every formal occasion. Material rewards

Without accepting the first kalima, we can not become Muslims. It is mandatory to recite the first kalima to become a Muslim as it completes our religion and the vital pillar of Islam.
Narrated Ibn’ Umar: the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
FIRST PILLAR AND VERSES ON FAITH (IMAN)
- Only those are believers who believe in Allah and His Apostle.” (Al-Quran, 24:62)
- “So believe in Allah and His Apostle, say not a trinity.” (Al-Quran, 4:171)
- O faithful! Have confidence in Allah, His Messenger, the Book He has revealed to them as well as the Scriptures He previously revealed, indeed whoever rejects Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the day of judgment has definitely gone far astray. (Al-Quran, 4:136)
- ALLAH would not leave the believers in the [condition] they are in [at the moment] until ALLAH separates the bad from the good. ALLAH wouldn’t even disclose the invisible to you. ALLAH chooses His messengers whom He wills, so, Belief in Allah and His messengers, and if you trust in Him and fear Him, there is a big prize for you (Al-Quran, 3:179)
- “Therefore, have faith in Allah, and in His Prophet, and in the Light, We have sent down. ALLAH knows everything you do. (Al-Quran, 64:8)
