Eight Major Themes Of The Holy Quran

The Glorious Quran is a comprehensive holy book, which addresses all of mankind. It contains numerous themes. It is crucial to study the Quran in depth. When studying Allah’s final revelation, it is highly beneficial to learn about the major themes of the Quran.

It is essential for parents to prioritize their children’s Islamic education. Learning the Quran is an integral part of one’s Islamic education. Nowadays, online Quran learning is one of the best methods of learning the Quran.

Studying the Quran through an online Quran academy grants kids access to professional online Quran tutors. Online Quran Classes can be conducted at the students’ preferred time. Learning Quran online is effective due to the quality of teaching.

Moreover, it is convenient due to flexible timings and the ability to learn from home without needing to travel.

The Theme of God

Islam is a purely monotheistic faith, and the Quran is the holy book that teaches us about our Lord, who has no partners. The theme of God in the Quran focuses on the oneness of Allah.

The Quran teaches us that Allah is One, All-Powerful, and Merciful. He is eternal, and there is no deity worthy of worship besides Him. In Islam, associating partners with Allah is the only unpardonable sin, as Allah tells us in Surah An-Nisa.

The Quran teaches us about Allah’s attributes, such as His Mercy. It tells us that we must submit to Allah wholeheartedly. He is the Creator of everything. Everything occurs according to His will, and nothing can happen without His will. The existence of God is evident for those who reflect on His countless signs.

Man as an Individual

While the surahs that Allah revealed in Makkah dealt more with God, the surahs that Allah revealed in Madinah dealt with ethics, laws, etc., and man as an individual. The Quran does not separate the body from the mind.

The soul is not disconnected from the mind. Allah gives man free choice and puts him in a position of authority on earth. While nature is bound to follow the laws of Allah, man possesses free will.

Thus, man can obey or disobey Allah and will be held accountable for his choices. Every man is responsible for his deeds alone. It is man’s responsibility to make choices that align with Islam’s teachings.

However, man is flawed, and it is his nature to err. Experiencing suffering increases man’s remembrance of Allah. Remembering Allah and making the correct choice to obey Him is Taqwa (piety).

Man in Society

This theme pertains to man’s role and duties in society. Since Islam is a complete way of life, it teaches Muslims how to be righteous believers and conduct themselves as members of society.

If individuals do not do their part for society, it will inevitably have a negative impact on the overall community. Therefore, the Quran condemned the rampant disbelief and injustice in Arabia before Islam arrived to guide the people.

The Quran prohibits usury (Riba) and obligates believers to pay the annual Zakat. These teachings pertain to the financial and overall well-being of society. Interest harms people financially and spreads despair and resentment in society, so the ban on Riba erases a great evil that causes much suffering.

Meanwhile, Zakat is a noble act of charity that Allah makes compulsory for every believer who possesses sufficient wealth. Zakat aids the poor, eases their difficulties, and purifies the giver’s wealth. Moreover, it prevents the spread of hostility and resentment.

The Quran also commands man to treat his fellow human beings well. Islam orders us to respect our parents and obey them. Similarly, man must be good to neighbours, orphans, travellers, etc. Treating all members of society by the noble teachings of Islam is an essential aspect of righteousness.

There should be no injustice in society. The Quran teaches man how to conduct himself in relationships, such as marriage. Both spouses have their rights and must fulfil each other’s rights.

Man must always be honest in business dealings. Thus, Islam thoroughly teaches man to live in the best way for himself and society.

Nature

In the Quran, Allah tells us that nature submits fully to his commands. Thus, everything in nature is considered Muslim, as, unlike man, it does not have the choice to disobey Allah or disbelieve in Him as man does. Therefore, mankind, in contrast to nature, cannot be regarded as Muslim as a whole.

Nature is an indication of Allah’s Omnipotence and Mercy. He is the One who sends rain down from which man benefits. With time, man continues to discover new things about the remarkable nature and size of the universe.

Allah is the All-Powerful deity who created everything that is in existence. He is the One who created all the majestic beasts in the wild, the creatures in the sea, and the spectacular wonders of nature, including stars, planets, etc.

One who sincerely seeks the truth and reflects on the signs of nature will realize that only an All-Powerful Creator could have caused everything to exist. Man must pay attention to the countless signs that he can observe in nature to realize the ultimate truth regarding the existence of an Omnipotent Creator.

The Theme of Prophethood and Revelation

Allah established Islam’s perfect and complete nature as a religion in the Quran. Allah affirms that He has perfected Islam for us in Surah Al-Ma’idah. Like the rest of Allah’s prophets, Muhammad (PBUH) preached the same fundamental message of monotheism.

The final revelation, which Allah revealed to the last prophet, Muhammad (PBUH), is the Quran. The Quran is the only holy book binding on all of mankind. Islam is the only religion that is acceptable to Allah.

The Theme of Satan and Evil

Satan is a Jinn and a sworn enemy of mankind. His arrogance made him feel superior to Adam (AS), so he defied Allah’s command and refused to prostrate before Adam.

He subsequently used his evil deception tactics to trick Adam and Eve into disobeying Allah. Satan declared that he would strive to misguide man until the Last Day. Therefore, his primary purpose is to invite us to evil through his cunning deceit and lead us astray.

Taqwa is a strong safeguard against the evil of Satan, while weakness of faith and immorality make one more vulnerable to the trickery of Satan. People who lack the sound morals that Islam teaches us are thus more likely to fall into Satan’s trap.

Every believer must remember that Satan’s agenda is to lead us astray. We should seek refuge in Allah from Satan regularly and strive to overcome the evil thoughts and temptations that Satan plants in our minds.

The Theme of the Muslim Ummah

Allah sent the Prophet (PBUH) to Arabia when polytheism was prevalent. The people had gone far astray, and the land was steeped in immorality and evil. The revelation of the Quran rescued them from their wretched state and showed them the right path, monotheism.

The pure teachings of Islam, the final and only uncorrupted revelation in existence, unite the Muslims based on their religion. The Quran is binding on all of mankind, unlike the earlier revealed scriptures. Thus, Muslims of every race, country, culture, and financial status exist worldwide.

Ultimately, Islam is the sole uniting factor for all Muslims. The Muslim community is only established based on belief in the oneness of Allah and that Muhammad (PBUH) is His Messenger. Hence, Islam solves the pressing issues of racism, nationalism, and prejudice.

The Hajj pilgrimage perfectly encapsulates the perfection of Islam’s concept of unity. Believers from all races, countries, and walks of life perform the pilgrimage together without discrimination. The unity of the believers during Hajj is what the concept of the Muslim Ummah is all about. Muslims should never allow issues like nationalism and prejudice to divide them, as our religion opposes such ignorance.

The Day of Judgment

Belief in the Day of Judgment is an article of faith in Islam. The Quran affirms the certainty of the Day of Judgment. On the Day of Reckoning, Allah will hold everyone accountable for what they did during their time on earth.

There will be no mediation without Allah’s permission. All our deeds are recorded in a book. There will be no injustice on the Day of Judgment. Allah will judge everyone and decide whether one goes to Heaven or Hell.

Wrapping up!

The Quran is a comprehensive holy book that addresses all of mankind. It contains numerous themes, such as the oneness of Allah, man as an individual, man in society, nature, prophethood and revelation, the Day of Judgment, Satan and evil, and the Muslim Ummah.

It is the source of guidance for all aspects of life. It teaches us about our Creator, our purpose in life, and how to live a righteous life. The Quran is also a source of comfort and strength, and it can help us to overcome challenges and adversity.

We should all strive to learn more about the Quran and implement its teachings. The Quran is a blessing from Allah, and we should be grateful for the opportunity to study it and to learn from it.
