The special prayer of Ramadan is Traweeh, which is not obligatory, but according to scholars, it is necessary to receive the full blessings of Allah in the month of Ramadan.

Importance of Ramadan by the Quran

In the Holy Book of Quran Allah says,

“O, man, who believes in us, Obligated on you is fasting, as it was on those people before you so that you may be righteous.” Surah Al-Baqra

In another place, Allah says, “to fast is right for you, if you only became known.”

There are many benefits of fasting other than blessings and rewards. For example, it has several health benefits. It makes us learn to get control over our bodies.

Again, in Surah Al-Baqra, Allah says, “Allah has created “laylat-Al-Qadar,” Which is more than 1000 months. According to Allah Almighty, this night is better than thousands of months. Within this night, Allah Descend the angels and the Rooh-ul-amen (Jabreel), there is total peace until dawn.”

It is the importance given by Islam to the month of Ramadan.

Importance of Ramadan by Ahadith

Prophet Muhammad SAW said,” Whenever Ramadan comes, go to Umrah Urgently because its rewards are equal to Hajj. “

In another place, Prophet Muhammad said,” One who fasts with hope and faith, he will get the reward, and Allah will forgive his sins.”

It means that Ahadith also qualifies the importance of Ramadan. It was the routine of the Prophet Muhammad SAW that he did a lot of worship in the month of Ramadan.

Taraweeh prayer

Taraweeh prayer is an essential and special prayer in the month of Ramadan as we offer special prayer on Eids.

It is not obligatory. Prophet Muhammad SAW, and all the Muslims scholars laid emphasized offering the special prayer of Ramadan.

Method of Taraweeh prayer

There are 20 Rakah of Taraweeh. Some scholars say less than 20.

Method of Taraweeh prayer is simple. After performing the obligatory prayer of Isha, we select 2 Rakah of prayer to perform Taraweeh prayer. We can pray this prayer in our home, but It is of great importance to pray this prayer in the mosque, particularly in the congregation.

We should make intention for two Rakah of prayer. We should complete it satisfactory either alone or with the Imam. After paying salutation, we should make intention for another 2 Rakah of prayer. And, it will happen thus till the 20 Rakah is complete.

It means that you will stand for two Rakah prayer ten times.

After completion of Taraweeh prayer, we should make intention for 3 Rakah of Witr prayer.

It is useful to recite the big Surah of the Quran in the Taraweeh prayer. Commonly, in the different mosque, across the World, the Muslims recite the complete Quran in the Taraweeh prayer. This is due to the increase in blessings because, in Ramadan, every good action carries double rewards from Almighty Allah. It is not compulsory to recite the whole during Traweeh’s prayer. Taraweeh also is not obligatory, but Prophet Muhammad SAW, and Islamic scholars gave great importance to offer this prayer.

Importance of Taraweeh prayer

It is of utmost importance for the Muslims to worship more particularly in the days and nights of Ramadan because, in Ramadan, the rewards for every good act become double.

One form of worship is the Taraweeh prayer, which not obligatory, but due to blessings and rewards, it was emphasized to offer special prayer.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad SAW said,” One who offers night prayer of Ramadan as the manifestation of his faith and to get the reward from Allah, Allah will forgive all his sins. “

The importance of Traweeh’s prayer cannot be denied in the presence of this Hadith as strong proof. It is the perfect source of blessings and rewards.

In another Hadith, Prophet Muhammad SAW said,” Almighty Allah made obligatory the fasting in the month of Ramadan, I made the special prayer of Ramdan a sunnah. “

This Hadith shows that Traweeh’s prayer is the sunnah of the Holy Prophet SAW. We cannot leave the sunnah of the Holy Prophet SAW. It is necessary for us to follow the sunnah; otherwise, we will be held accountable in the day of judgment.

It is the tradition in the Muslims country that the person, who memorizes the Quran well and can be able to lead the Taraweeh prayer, often leads the Taraweeh prayer. Thus, one who attends the special prayer gets a full chance to listen to the recitation of the full Quran.

During the last year of the Prophet Muhammad SAW life, when the month of Ramadan came, one day, he came outside from his room and went directly to the mosque.

After offering Aisha prayer, he offered the special prayer of Ramadan also. Many people were also there, offering prayer.

On the second night, Prophet Muhammad SAW joined again and offered special prayer again. Similarly, the third night, Prophet SAW offered the special prayer again, and more people were there with him.

However, on the fourth night, Prophet Muhammad SAW did not come while people were waiting for them. Then, the people offered special prayer without the Prophet Muhammad SAW.

Later, in the prayer of Fajar, when asked, holy Prophet SAW replied that nothing banned me from coming here to offer the special prayer, except my fear that it may happen that the special prayer in the month of Ramadan can be obligatory.

It recorded in different Islamic books that during the time of Caliph Abu-Bakar and the beginning period of Umar RA, people used to pray the special prayer in groups and separate. However, after some time, Umar RA gave the order to offer the special prayer in the congregation and after one Imam.

Ibn Abbas(May Allah pleased upon Him) reported that Prophet Muhammad SAW used to pray 20 Rakah as the special prayer. Imam Bahequi noted this Hadith in his book.

Hazrat Abu Dhar Ghafari (May Allah be pleased upon him) narrated as the addition in the above Hadith that we as companion saw that Prophet Muhammad SAW did not lead us in the night prayer in the Ramadan. Until there were seven days of the month of Ramadan left. Muhammad SAW then led us in the prayer on the 23rd, 25th, and 27th night.

Imam Bukhari (May Allah be pleased Upon Him) he narrated in his book.” After the 23rd, 25th, and 26th night, they were large gatherings on the 29th night. However, that night, Prophet Muhammad SAW came to lead the Fajar prayer. He did not come to lead the special prayer that night due to fear that it can get the status of Fard.

Taraweeh Dua in English

Translation of the Dua of Taraweeh prayer in English is the following.

Glory (honor) be to One who commands respect, prestige, Awe and Magnificence and greatness and power and omnipotence. Honor to be the sovereign, one who always living, one who not sleep and not die. He is the most praised, the holy, our lord and the lord and the lord.”

Qiyam Prayer (Night prayers)

The word “Qiyam” means standing, and prayer means Salah. Qiam prayer is offered in the nighttime. Tahajad prayer is another name of Qiyam prayer.

The significance of the night prayer is definite in several places. For example, Allah says in the Quran,” O you, one who wraps himself in clothes, wake up in the night, except for a little(half)of it, or exclude from it or include in it, and thoroughly recite the Quran with measured recitation.” (Quran 73: 1-4)

In a Hadith, Prophet Muhammad SAW said, “Allah descends in the nearest heaven and Says if there anyone having request so that I can fulfill their needs, is there anyone finding my grace so that I can forgive his pardon.”

There is different sunnah of our Prophet SAW, which can be followed after waking up for Qiyam prayer; for example, recitation of the Quran is the sunnah of our Prophet SAW. While Wadhu, we can use Masvak, it is the sunnah of our Prophet SAW. We can Dhikar, which is also the sunnah.
